How to play
A new maze is drawn every time you play. Find the single route from the open corner at the top left to the gap at the bottom right.
- Start at the green dot in the top-left corner. The exit is the gap in the bottom-right corner.
- Use the arrow keys or WASD to move one square at a time.
- On a phone, swipe on the maze or tap the arrow buttons. A swipe runs along the corridor until the next turn-off.
- Stuck? Show the way draws the route from where you stand.
About maze
A maze is a network of paths separated by walls, with a route from an entrance to an exit. Each maze here is generated in your browser with a randomised depth-first search, which produces a “perfect” maze: every square can be reached and there is exactly one path between any two squares.
Small mazes are 10×10 squares, medium 16×16 and large 24×24.
Frequently asked questions
- Does every maze have a solution?
- Yes. The generator connects every square, and there is exactly one route from start to exit.
- What is the fastest way to solve a maze?
- In a perfect maze like these, keeping one hand on the same wall and following it will always bring you to the exit. Spotting dead ends early and skipping them is quicker still.
- Can I play mazes on a phone?
- Yes. Swipe on the maze or use the on-screen arrows. Each swipe moves you along a corridor until the next junction.
